Halloween Installations
I collaborated closely with a technical coordinator to art direct and create two bespoke spooky installations, a ghost and a giant house spider, designed to form part of a community Halloween installation walk. From idea generation and planning to the final installation, we worked together to balance construction with craft and scary with friendliness using various techniques and processes. Each installation was made from common household materials, from pipe cutting and joining to wire sculpting and repurposed tight sewing. Both pieces are designed to make the most of character, light, and sound to create a fun experience for walkers by, day and night, no matter the age!

Ghost
Made from a red gym ball, plastic sheets, wire, cable, cardboard and tape, we suspended our ghost to make the most of the windy autumnal weather that would bring him to life. He worked hard to haunt day and night.

Working with the environment - using wind and sound to create a sense of performance

Giant 'House' Spider
Woah is it just me, or are these house spiders getting big?! Designed and crafted with the help of a technical coordinator, this piece uses chicken wire, wood, plastic pipes, foam sheets and milk cartons to bring the spider to life. Challenged with how to make the spider look black in daytime, but still shine bright at night we carefully picked out our materials that would really let that glow shine. I even found myself sewing a custom made spider body suit from ladies tights!
An enchanted forest soundscape completes the installation.
